I’ve been around and read a lot of books, but I have to tell you Fearless by Max Lucado (ISBN 9780849921391) is one of the best so far. In our current economy, fear has the potential to take us out of the game. It’s interesting to stand on the outside and watch situations where you can see people responding out of fear to their current situation. Standing on the outside it’s easy to spot fear, it’s a lot harder to see it when you’re in the middle of your own circumstances. Lucado has a real talent for giving you practical tools mixed in with a little humor. I love hearing stories about his family and people who have shared their experiences. We can learn so much from a personal story. Each chapter was focused on a specific area in our lives where fear has the potential to take control. While he could have taken a 10,000 feet approach to the topic of fear, instead he chose to go to ground level and make it something I’ll remember to apply to my life tomorrow….which is the next time I’ll have to talk myself back from the edge of the cliff called “fear.” The discussion questions in the back are just an added bonus and make it super easy to use this book as your next class curriculum.
