Unraveled

Living Life in Real Time

Call me “CRAZY” February 6, 2010

Welcome to our “12 Christian Beliefs That Can Drive You Crazy” study. As we move through this study, I’ll be referencing the book quite a bit. I’d encourage you to pick up a copy and use it as we spend time together. You should be able to pick up a copy at most bookstores. Here’s some quick stats on it if you’re looking: Published by Zondervan, ISBN 978-0310494911.

Did you know that everything people tell you is from the bible might not actually be from the bible.  Time after time I hear well meaning people say things like…”Jesus first, others second and yourself last.”  Then there are the times where it goes like this…”Jesus doesn’t care why…just do it.”  Then how about this…”If you were really in tune with what Jesus wants you’d be more spiritual.”  Here’s my all time favorite…”Don’t spend time worrying…just give it to the Lord.”

The tricky part is that in each of these statements there is a shred of truth.  There is something Jesus has said on the topic, but it’s lost a little truth in the translation.  This Spring we’ll talk about the false assumptions that many people develop from misreading the Bible and by listening to otherwise well meaning people who have misinterpreted what the bible has said.  Each week we’ll address one of the 12 most common beliefs that can drive you crazy and enable you to see for yourself what life-changing promises God intended you to see in the scriptures.

There’s something powerful that happens when you live your life in real time. Can you say “unraveled?” Here we go again. I’ll be tackling one chapter a week beginning February 17. I hope you’ll join us and invite your friends along. If you’d like to join this study in real time…I’m teaching it at hopepark Wednesday Mornings & Thursday Nights.
