Let’s just say, nothing compares to your first experience in Sin City in all it’s card flapping, high heel wearing, big blinking sign kind of way. Who would have guessed that our main event was to attend the Women of Faith conference. Jesus goes to Las Vegas? Really? How did we end up hanging out with a bunch of women in Las Vegas…there’s a bigger story there and it has to do with the Recreate conference we attended in February. You can read all about how it all got started here.
Did I tell you that we left Franklin, TN…the Bible belt with a church on every corner, and went to Las Vegas to meet Jesus. Now that’s what I’m talking about. And let me tell you those Women of Faith really know how to take care of a person.
I’ve always wanted to go to Paris. I finally had my chance! We stayed at the most beautiful Paris hotel. It was simply amazing. The whole interior was set in a Parisian street…of course with a fine assortment of gambling tables and slot machines. We even saw the Eiffel Tower…or at least a pint size replica…which was still quite outstanding! When we arrived we were greeted by the most brilliant reception area that was adorned with many twinkling chandeliers. So we made our way to the marbled counter to check in and had another surprise that was a super secret message being held for us in the “Diamond Lounge.” Ohhhhhh….I almost wet myself in anticipation of the brilliance to be found in the Diamond lounge. Fabulous! We were greeted with a delightful “bon jour” and were handed the envelope containing our tickets to the conference. Our seats….Row A, Seat 1 & 2. You know it means when you’re Row A, Seat 1 & 2. Yep…no sneaking in late or leaving early. (Not that I would know anything about that.) Better get to it then. We hopped in a taxi made our way to the main event. We left the hotel a little late but with had a very skilled driver and with great speed and a few “hold your breath” moments…we made it there right in time for the evening session. The lights were blinding. I thought any second I was going to be handed the mic. Under my breath I was warming up just in case Mandissa needed a little help singing. She did quite nice on her own.
The 2 days with Women of Faith was unbelievable. It was my first time attending and I was getting the royal treatment. Luci Swindoll, Mandisa, Karen James, Lisa Harper, Sheila Walsh…they were all above and beyond what I expected. It was fabulous…and I believe Bill was one of 10 men in the entire place. It was hilarious when he found out that all the men’s bathrooms in the entire place had been turned into women’s bathrooms…all expect for the secretly placed bathroom of section 103. Hilarious! He held up pretty good under the pressure. Love you honey! We couldn’t have asked for a better time. It was an inspired couple of days.
What would Las Vegas be without taking in a show. We went to see the Cirque Du Soleil Love show…all Beatles songs…it was fabulous. And for the first time in my life I obeyed all the rules and didn’t take any pictures inside. I know…surprised even me. However I didn’t have any problem finding something to show you from the show on the internet. Apparently not everyone lives to the high standard I practice….Ha, ha! On the way back to the hotel from the show we stopped by the Bellagio to watch the fountains. They were mesmerizing. What was the funniest was the little Chinese woman who was very intent on making it to the rail to get her prized photo. I’ve never seen anyone so small make her way through the crowd with such skill. She eventually landed next to me and for the next 3 minutes I had the unique opportunity to experience the fountains in chinese. I still have no idea what she was saying…but she was very excited. Only in Las Vegas!
We had a great two days in Vegas. But at last, we do have to go back home. Kids and all expecting their parents to eventually show up. So reluctantly we boarded the plane Sunday morning. Thanks for Recreate and Women of Faith. What a wonderful weekend. We’d go back anytime!
